On Sunday, 22 April 2001, the Fourth Annual Citywide
Honors & Awards Program (for Grades K-12) was hosted at New Life
Presbyterian Church and U.H.O.P. Atlanta was well represented by several
of our youth who were recognized for their academic achievements. The
theme for this event was "obtaining educational victory through
Christ" and Apostle M. Johnson, Jr. served as the Keynote Speaker.
Performers included the Madison Redeemers, Sister Nestle Arnold singing
"Open Up My Heart." Others included the combined youth and
children's choir from Faith Deliverance Christian Church and creative
dance group Dancers of Faith from Greater Tabernacle of Faith Christian
Center.
On Sunday, 24 June 2001, U.H.O.P. Atlanta's Education Committee held it's First Annual Educational Honors & Recognition Program. The program was held to recognize this year's graduates, honor students, and students promoted to the next grade level. The event featured performances including a solo by Minister Jameal Lovelace, a 2001 High School Graduate, an inspirational poem by Sis. Tramaine Pierce followed by an inspiring speech by Bro. Kelvis Zemery Patrick, of St. Mark A.M.E. Church. Sis. Tiffany Keye, the Mistress of Ceremony conducted an excellent program. The Education Committee consists of Sis. Frances White - Chair, Sis. Antionetta Mars - Secretary, Sis. Daisy Allen-Brooks, Sis. Shirley J. Grant, Sis. Karyn Lilly, and Sis. Linda Newman.
